The primary reason for the formation of the scale is the decrease in the solubility of the scale-forming salts in the water while the temperature and ion concentrations increase. When the feed water temperature increases and the concentration of the scale-forming salts exceeds the solubility level, the salts precipitate and scale occurs.

The conditioning chemicals are prepared due to the quality of the feed water, the operating conditions and the plant layout.”
